Prices and payments

Pricing

The prices we list are the UK duty paid prices per bottle (or per magnum etc.).

We believe this to be the entirely transparent way for a UK wine merchant to show their prices.  However, since many of the wines we sell have not had duty paid on them at this point, it is possible to either transfer them to a UK customer’s bonded storage at a lower price, or to ship the wines to overseas at a lower price.

Payment methods

We take payment by debit and credit card or by bank transfer.

If you are looking for delivery outside the UK, you may pay us by card or bank transfer too but we can’t take an online payment because we need to get delivery quotes to get a final price.

How to buy from us

As a result of the above, we recommend the following:

Normal UK customers:

If you are a UK-based customer who wishes to buy some wine to drink (or to keep safely in your cellar until it’s ready to drink), please just go ahead: put the wines in your basket, check them out, and pay by card (quickest for delivery to you) or by bank transfer if you prefer.

UK customers with bonded storage:

If the wines you want are marked ‘Also available in bond’ then please either email us for a reduced quote (which will be a 20% discount plus a small discount per bottle on the listed prices).  We can then raise an invoice for you at the ‘in bond’ price, which you can then pay either by card or by bank transfer.

If the wines you want are not marked ‘Also available in bond’ then proceed as per a normal UK customer since we’ve already paid duty on these wines and this cannot therefore be avoided.

Delivery fees to bonded storage are identical to delivery fees to private addresses.

Overseas customers:

If the wines you want are marked ‘Also available in bond’ then please either email us to see whether we can transfer these items to your home country and defer the taxes (this varies from country to country and is quite complicated so we’re not even going to attempt to explain it here!).  We can then raise an invoice for you at the ‘in bond’ price, which you can then pay either by card or by bank transfer.

If the wines you want are not marked ‘Also available in bond’ then please feel free to raise an order and choose to pay by bank transfer.  We will then get delivery quotes for you, which we will pass on ‘at cost’.  We do not attempt to make any profit on deliveries.

Sorry if this sounds rather complicated but we’ve tried to make it as simple as possible to get our wines to you at the best possible price.
