Producer Notes
Domaine Ponsot has a long tradition of bottling their own wine and also sells small quantities of negotiant wine under the same brand.
The current owner, Laurent Ponsot, is somewhat of an eccentric and has become something of a celebrity since his key role in exposing the counterfeiting activities of Rudy Kurniawan. The production of the domaine is mostly organic and mostly biodynamic but not formally so, and Mr Ponsot’s wine-making techniques are open to some criticism.
Whilst some of the top wines are extremely well received, some are thought a little underwhelming. Whatever you do, don’t drink these wines young.
Vintage Notes
1999 was a very good vintage for red and a good vintage for white wines in Burgundy
