Producer Notes
Louis Roederer is one of the very few Champagne houses to have retained its independence as a family-owned business. However, the family business is rapidly widening its interests into Bordeaux (where they are the major shareholders in Pichon Comtesse), port and Californian wines. As for their champagnes, all are of high quality and Cristal remains one of the premier special cuvees. Having been originally created for the Tsar of All The Russias, Cristal has also been the favourite tipple of gangsta rappers, although we’re told that Jay-Z doesn’t like it so it’s back to a wine for the less bling Champagne-lovers amongst us.
