Producer Notes
Teyssier was acquired in 1991 by Jonathan Malthus who gradually improved and expanded the vineyards by buying up neighbouring plots. Today the Chateau is known for good quality wines made with care and, in good years, competing with some of the grand cru classé. The blend is usually 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc and aged in a third new oak.
Malthus is probably best known for his ‘garage’ wine, Le Dôme, which is made from a small vineyard in Saint-Emilion and is produced in very small quantities. Like many of its garage contemporaries Le Dôme is expensive but looks great value in comparison to Le Pin.
