Producer Notes
Chateau Montose was planted in 1815 and classified as a second growth in 1855. Today it is certainly classified as a super second, meaning that it is one of the best chateaux not classified as a first growth. It is the best, or close to the best, Saint Estephe property.
In recent years, the estate has invested heavily in geothermic and solar power to make it one of the most environmentally friendly properties in Bordeaux.
The wines are generally made up of around 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc and it is advisable to let them have some age.
Since 2003, Chateau Montrose has also produced a second wine, called Dame de Montrose.
