Producer Notes

Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion is clearly the next left bank claret in terms of price rank after the Premier Crus.
For many years before its purchase by its more famous neighbour in 1983, it challenged Haut-Brion head-to-head in terms of quality in every vintage.
If you have the money, it older vintages of La Mission are very good value.
The red Grand VIn blend is 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The white is 60% Semillon and 40% Sauvignon Blanc.
Both wines continue to challenge Haut-Brion for quality equality.
Before 2009, La Mission Blanc was called Laville Haut Brion.
There’s a red second wine called La Chapelle La Mission Haut Brion and a white second wine called La Clarte de Haut Brion Blanc. Unusally for second wines, we recommend both.
