Producer Notes
Chateau Pontet Canet has been following biodynamic principles since 2004 and certified as biodynamic since 2010. In Bordeaux, Pontet Canet is one of the leaders in this transition. Whilst we at Nemo Wines can see no particular scientific evidence to favour biodynamic wines, many of our favourite vineyards are biodynamic – so we have to have faith. The vineyard is big, even by Bordeaux standards, and well-situated (next to Mouton), so the wine tends to outperform its 1855 fifth growth ranking. The wine is powerful, but not ill-balanced, and is usually at its best after around 15 years bottle age. The blend is around 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. There is also a second wine called Hauts de Pontet Canet.
