Producer Notes
Artadi’s wines are modern and fruit forward but in the most elegant of ways. The vineyards were originally a cooperative of 13 growers until they were purchased by Juan Carlos Lopez de Lacalle who began to modernise and change the style of the wines produced. There is a strong focus on single vineyard wines with El Pisón being the most highly regarded and expensive of the range. They are also keen on old vines and their Pagos Viejos and Grandes Añadas productions are rich and concentrated Riojas that are built to last.
The wines are creeping up in price but they still offer great value as Rioja doesn’t tend to command the prices that the key French and Italian appellations command.
Vintage Notes
