Producer Notes
Château Ducru-Beaucaillou is one of the best second growth wines in the Medoc and is considered the second chateau of Saint-Julien, after Leoville-Las-Cases (although in recent vintages they have been pretty much on a par).
The blend is roughly 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot.
There is a second wine called La Croix de Beaucaillou, which has recently acquired a very natty black and gold label, and a third wine called Le Petit Ducru, which, according to the chateau, tastes of Sundays – so at least we now know what Sundays taste like.
