Wine Notes
2006 was a good but not great vintage but La Conseillante did well to produce a wine that was true to their style rather than forced or over extracted. It has also lasted very well with a good dose of acidity keeping it lively and layers of fruit continuing to evolve.
A good, strong Pomerol with lots of savoury notes that keep the sweetness in check. The fruit has softened and the tannins mellowed but, like most mature Bordeaux, will benefit from a good meal alongside it.
Additional Wine Notes
La Conseillante has a reputation for elegance and finesse which is no mean feat in Pomerol where power and concentration tend to rule.
Directly bordering Saint-Emilion (and indeed Cheval Blanc), the blend is predominantly Merlot (70%) with Cabernet Franc (25%) and a little Malbec (5%).
There is a second wine, called Duo de Conseillante.
The only thing that ever really puts us off La Conseillante is the capsule colour.
