Producer Notes
Luciano Sandrone produces really quite a lot of wine from extremely low yielding vines, meaning that there are a lot of vines.
His iconic Barolo Cannubi Boschis came to prominence in the 1989 and 1990 vintages, and whilst those two vintages are really rather expensive, other vintages are not such bad value for such quality wine.
Please don’t ignore his ‘lesser’ wines though: the Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto d’Alba are all excellent value for everyday drinking.
All his wines are red.
Finally, it’s worth noting that some bottles are labelled ‘Sibi e Paucis’, which simply means that they have been cellared longer by Sandrone and released some years later than those without the ‘Sibi e Paucis’ label. So long as the wines have been well stored in the UK, there’s really no particularly reason to pay the premium for this.
