Producer Notes
Bodegas Mauro is the family winery that Mariano García, one of the most renowned winemakers in Spain, named after his own father, Mauro García. Founded in 1980, two years after the creation of D.O Ribera del Duero, Bodegas Mauro was excluded from the official D.O for geographical reasons. However this hasn’t held Mauro back and under the qualification of Tierras de Castilla y León, the winery has been producing high quality, well balanced wines for years. The wines tend towards a full bodied, concentrated style with soft tannins and great length with some good ageing potential. Ferran Centenelles (Jancis Robinson’s Spanish wine critic) once wrote that the Terreus was “a masterpiece for those loving concentration and power” but perhaps not for those afraid of new oak.
