Producer Notes
An impossibly difficult wine to get on board with; exclusivity being an understatement. The wine was first produced in 1994 by husband and wife duo Manfred and Elaine Krankl as a personal project and was sold through their uber fashionable LA restaurant. The wine grew in notoriety and is now sold only through a carefully controlled mailing list. With small quantities made each year the release price is normally in the $1,000โs.
Unlike most exclusive wines in California Sine Qua Non is a Rhone style blend comprising Syrah, Grenache and Mouverdre whilst the whites are usually made from Rousanne, Viognier and Marsanne. The wines produced each year will vary depending on conditions and the style they are striving to achieve. The rather unorthodox names, bottles and labels change for each vintage as well.
