Producer Notes
Regarded by many as one of the most distinguished and great Burgundian domaines, Armand Rousseau produces world-class red wines from the Pinot Noir grape variety. The small-scale estate is based around the Gevrey-Chambertin commune and is rich in Grand Cru holdings with more than half of their vineyard land classified as such. Rousseau is still very much a family affair and is managed by third generation winemaker, Eric Rousseau, who continues to look after the land using organic methods to best preserve the soil. Rousseau’s attention to detail in the vineyard and winery comes across positively in the final wine, with all production consistently high in quality regardless of whether the wines are village level, Premier Cru or Grand Cru labelled. The estate is regularly cited as “the jewel in the Gevrey Chambertin Crown” by critics and wine writers, making it one of the most sought after wines from this region.
Vintage Notes
2014 was a good vintage for red and an excellent vintage for white wines in Burgundy
