Producer Notes
Marchesi Antinori vies with Tenuta San Guido as the leaders of the Super Tuscan revolution but the driving force differs between the two. Originally Antinori began to add Bordeaux grapes to soften Sangiovese, whereas San Guido were consciously trying to make a claret in Italy. Both approaches have been very successful.
The Antinori family now own a world-wide business empire incorporating wineries, restaurants and bars in Chile, California and Monte Carlo but the heart of the business is still in Tuscany and the diffusion of the business does not seem to have adversely affected the fundamental quality of the primary product: the wines.
