Wine Notes
The established term for Chambolle-Musigny is ‘feminine’ but since that means many different things to different people, we tend to say ‘balanced’ or ‘poised’.
This village Chambolle-Musigny from micro-negotiants Mischief and Mayhem is an excellent example, even adding a little (if we must call it ‘masculine’) weight to the traditional Chambolle poise, and is now at perfect drinking age.
To our tastes, this is also excellent value.
Additional Wine Notes
One of our favourite mid-budget Burgundies. Chambolle-Musignies are supposed to be ‘feminine’ but this one has a little added ‘masculinity’ that gives it much more backbone than most village Chambolles.
Producer Notes
Mischief and Mayhem is an oddly named (something to do with Roald Dahl, we think) micro-negotiant, run by two ex-Berry Bros Brits.
Fortunately their wines are somewhat more traditional than their name and extremely good value at the moment.
Vintage Notes
2014 was a good vintage for red and an excellent vintage for white wines in Burgundy
