Producer Notes
Founded in 1990, the Denis Mortet Domaine is a Burgundian estate based around the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin in the Côte de Nuits. The wines have been popular from their infancy, with Mortet creating ripe, fleshy and broad red wines from the region’s famed grape variety, Pinot Noir. In 2006, Domaine Denis Mortet was confronted with a tragic upheaval when the eponymous winemaker took his own life, leaving the estate to his wife and son. The wines continue to be celebrated for their quality, however, they have evolved somewhat into tighter, linear wines with more precision and elegance, qualities that the late Denis always hoped to eventually achieve. The family presently own a wonderful selection of Village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyard land with premium holdings increasing every year, enabling superb quality across the range of wines produced.
