Predominantly Garnacha but with small amounts of Cariñena and Syrah for balance. This is an unoaked Priorat that offers a full on flavour but one not masked by traditional notes of oak. Meaty, rich and savoury with a wonderful purity of fruit.
Producer Notes
Clos Martinet is made exclusively from the grapes grown on the Mas Martinet estate, overseen by leading winemaker Sara Perez. Located near the village of Gratallops, the licorella soil and specific orientation give this plot its particular character. This wine, originally created by her father Josep Maria Lluis Pérez has reached cult status and often scores +95 Parker points. The base is mostly Garnacha and Cariñenas blended with Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. After fermentation with wild yeasts from the vineyards the wine is aged in foudres, amphoras and barrels, again adding to its unique style. Balanced, elegant and well structured with just the right amount of rustic Priorat character, these wines really open up in the glass to show blackberry, spice, licquorice, a delight!
