Additional Wine Notes
The white wines in Hermitage have benefited from producers discovering that with a bit more care and attention these wines can be far more interesting than they previously thought. Chapoutier has certainly gained a good following for his Ermitage de l’Oree, a wine made from 100% Marsanne that seems to offer endless layers of flavour. These wines are made to age and can last a decade at least.
Producer Notes
Hailed as one of the top producers in the Rhone, M.Chapoutier wines are as diverse as they are complex. All wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered to allow all the terroir flavour to remain. For some this is the element that makes the wines so spectacular, for us, it seems to leave an overlying taste of mushrooms in all his wines. Wine is definitely subjective!
