Wine Notes
Giuseppe Mascarello makes a very superior Barbera, which we think is a perfect barbecue wine and has just enough age behind it to avoid any evening headaches if you have a glass or two with lunch.
Additional Wine Notes
Better known for their single vineyard Barolos, this Barbera from Giussepe Mascarello offers all the wine making expertise in a more approachable, easy going style. The 2016 is medium bodied with full, juicy, bright fruit that is perfect for Turkey but will happily sit alongside most dishes. A good quality crowd pleaser.
Producer Notes
Giusseppe Mascarello is a Piedmontese producer whose meticulous care and skilful winemaking can be seen throughout their portfolio. Established in the late 1800โs they garnered their reputation from the Monprivato cru in Barolo, one of the most highly prized vineyards in the region, and one they now own the majority share of. The estate is now run by fourth generation Mauro Mascarello who is responsible for the strong reputation they have throughout the world.
Whilst their exceptional Barolos deserve the praise, like most high-profile Barolo the price is creeping up. However, value can be found from the rest of their range particularly their Barbera and Dolcetto.
